Meet the Staff

After 28.5 years of service Tony retired as Susquehanna County Coroner on May 29th, 2024. Tony began serving as a deputy to the Coroner, his father, John Conarton, in August of 1978. In December 1991 he attended and passed the Pennsylvania State Coroner’s Basic Education Course and has maintained his legal certification under the Pennsylvania Coroner’s Education Board. This enabled him to hold the position of Chief Deputy Coroner in 1992. In September 1993 Tony received a diploma in General law Enforcement.  In the 1995 November election Tony was elected to the position of Coroner and he has proudly served the residents of Susquehanna County ever since. In July of 2016 Tony was awarded Diplomat status in the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (D-ABMDI). Tony is a life member of the Great Bend Hose Company, No.1 (non-active currently).  Tony was an EMT for 24 years and has been an active member of the Great Bend Hallstead Volunteer Ambulance, Inc. since 1976 and currently serving as President and CEO since 2005

 

Deputy Sean Hennessey attended and passed the Pennsylvania State Coroner’s Basic Education Course in April of 2014. Sean has been with the Coroner’s Office since 2011.  He has been a member of Susquehanna Fire Company since 1998 holding certifications of EMS First Responder, Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2. He was Assistant Chief for 7 years and Fire Chief for 3 years. Sean became a licensed funeral director in 2008 and became the owner of Hennessey’s Funeral Home in 2015. Sean was appointed to Chief Deputy on January 4, 2016. In May 2019 Sean became Nationally Certified as a Medicolegal Death investigator through the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (D-ABMDI).

 

Deputy Richard M. Hennessey has been a deputy with the coroner’s office since 1987. In 1999 attended and passed the Pennsylvania State Coroner’s Basic Education Course and was appointed as Chief Deputy, which he held for 15 years. Prior to serving as a deputy under Tony, he was appointed by Coroners John Conarton and Robert Bartron. Richard became a licensed funeral director in 1979 and was the owner of Hennessey’s Funeral Home from 1980 to December of 2014 when his son Sean took over. He joined the Susquehanna Fire Company in 1970 and served 9 years as Fire Chief. Richard has been an Emergency Medical Technician since 1978 years and holds his certification to this date.

 

The newest employee is Angelica Howell. She holds the role of Forensic Case Coordinator/ Deputy Coroner with the Coroner’s Office. Angelica comes to us with over 10 years’ experience in both pre-hospital and in-hospital experience. She actively maintains certifications as a Certified Medical Assistant, Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 Certification through the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials Institute (APCO), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) with the state of Pennsylvania, as well as is Nationally Registered as an Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT). She actively and currently runs with Cottage Hose Ambulance Corps and Avoca EMS. In December of 2023, Angelica attended and passed the Pennsylvania State Coroner’s Basic Education Course and Medicolegal Death Investigator’s Training. She will be training and testing for her National Certification in the near future. Angelica has a passion for caring and helping people and loved ones in their time of need. She looks forward to learning and growing within the Coroner’s Office as well as assisting the citizens of Susquehanna County.
